Olá! I’m Bianca Guimarães (she/her). A Brazilian interdisciplinary artist that is balancing flow and structure (or chaos/order). My works often centers collaboration, expanded scenography, politics, and materiality. I am enticed by designing for the senses. Creating ephemeral experiences to the public. Often hard to classify, interactive, and playful. Once every few years, I will work on traditional theatre or film. As an arts worker, I'm committed to institutional and systemic transformation. That dreams of a more just, anti-oppressive, anti-racist present.

CO-CREATOR
Collaboration is at the center of all work that I do. Immersing yourself in the collaborative practice with the other(s), is in my opinion, the biggest art form of all. It's messy, fun, systemic, and relational. The aspect of time in evolving in collaborative partnerships intentionally, affords deep, complex, connections that a single person's vision couldn't arrive at.
COSTUME DESIGN
This is the design element that I am the most comfortable working on "traditional" theatre or film. Storytelling through color, and shape is often how I approach creation of garments in those scenarios. If working on more contemporary creations, I will explore the relationship of the clothing as a mediator between the performer's body, and space.
SCENOGRAPHY & visual art
My approach to proposing space is holistic, and performative. I think of space as an invitation to the audience's embodied experience, and sensations. I like to consider the materials an audience encounters through their journey with a piece. The process of how I arrive in the scenographic proposals changes from project to project - following their affections.
Project management
Supporting groups, or peers to achieve their vision is thrilling to me. I geek out on the organizing people's thoughts, documents, and reflecting on how our actions will expose our values in all aspects of the work. I have a human-centered approach to project management where communication of expectations and intentions are more important than goals or products.
